Cape Malay Curry Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 kg lamb or beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 tbsp Spicemaster Cape Malay Masala
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, peeled and minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger, peeled and minced
  • 3 medium potatoes, quartered
  • 2 medium tomatoes, pureed
  • Fresh coriander to garnish
  • ½ cup cooking oil

 

Method

  1. Heat the cooking oil to a medium heat and fry the onions until golden brown. Add the Spicemaster Cape Malay Masala, ginger and garlic to the oil and stir for 10 seconds.
  2. Add the meat and mix well, allowing the meat and spices to fry for a few minutes on a low heat, stirring occasionally. Add the tomatoes and cook on a low heat, stirring occasionally until cooked.
  3. Add water and cook on a medium heat until the meat has softened. Add potatoes and water, cook until the potatoes are soft. Add salt to taste. Garnish with fresh coriander.
